When we rang Bunty and Harold from San Francisco to tell them that we were getting married, Bunty said to me ‘we do love him very much, you know’ to which I replied that I could understand why. Then she assured me that if it didn’t work out, they would pay my way back to the U.S. I thought that was a great vote of confidence!
