Bunty and Harold were married on 7th October 1953
Together Bunty and Harold volunteered at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne 2006
Bunty and Harold were always surrounded by family and Bunty is still to this day.
Taken at Leela & Jarad's wedding, family events are always used for get-together photos.
Bunty's care for Rose in her final years (Rose's, not Bunty's) should be an inspiration to us all. Everyone should have an advocate who is fiercely on their side at least once in their lives! Rose was incredibly lucky to have Bunty until she was 104 years young!
Harry & Rose, Harold, Joe & Anne, Ron & Sarah, Marian & Keith, Steve & Sheila, Di & Steve, Tina & Mick, Bernie & Yvonne, Yvonne, Danny, Jasmine, Taj, Daniel & Tess, Sarah, Leila & Jarrad, Johan, Naomi, Isaac, Ylana & Damo, Tracy & Vinny, Karen & Ian, Gary & Susie, Trevor &Sandra, Gemma & Adam, Samuel, Joel, Natalie, Jason, Jamie, Jodie, Ashley to name BUT A FEW!!
Bunty has became an integral part of the Sacred Heart Mission Volunteer group. Weekly, special events, Xmas, Easter, wrapping Xmas presents, sausage sizzle at football games, dropping flyers ... the list goes on. Radio, newspaper, she is often the face of the volunteers and rightly so! Her contribution to those in need is renowned!
London was devastated after the 2nd world war and the courageous Rose and Harry brought Bunty with her brothers Joe and Ron to Australia to start a new life.
As we all know, the absolute love of Bunty's life was Harold. Those who had the incredible privilege to know him know what a gentleman he was. With his limp, stumpy fingers (lost as a printer), walking sticks and eventually his buggy, nothing stopped them living an most amazing life together.

Happy 80th Birthday Bunty! Are you really 80? That sounds quite preposterous, I hope you don’t believe it. However old you are we love you and hope you are having a spectacular time 🙂 As far as memories go, we love that you were able to share in our wedding day and represent the Morton clan. […]

Many Happy Returns to my favourite Melbourne Aunty! I moved to Melbourne 10 years ago, and I can’t imagine how I would have done it without you making the transition so easy for me. You included me as part of the family from Day 1, and you have always been there if I ever needed […]

Hi Sis Have a really great 80th birthday, not that many old photos of us so I dug up this. It shows how little you have aged in the intervening period, and it should bring a sentimental tear to your eyes. While I am away over the other side of Australia and don’t get to Melbourne much I […]

Happy Birthday Aunty Bunty! You have led an amazing life with so many great people in it. I still remember the time you visited Perth when I was a kid, and what a great time we all had. You have made a huge contribution to the Sacred Heart Mission, and I really enjoyed the time […]

Dear Bunty, We are so lucky that you came into our lives. You are so busy we feel privileged to spend time with us (especially Hanna). When given the choice, 6 year old Hanna will prefer to spend an afternoon with Bunty than her friends. Such a special bond that is based on love. You […]

Wow, how many great memories we share! I’m a lucky one having two women to grow-up with, with whom I respect so much; Mum and Aunty Bunty. All my memories involve Mum and you; houses, cooking, holidays, hairdressing competitions, fashion – everything! One of the best memories is having my engagement party at your house […]

Bunty, you’ve been a great friend to our family over many, many years. Have an awesome birthday with your family. The photo attached is you and your “girlfriends” from 1969. Here’s a slideshow move we made showing all of you from 1969 to 1994. We hope you get a kick out of it.

Dearest Bunty What a pleasure it is to be able to join everyone you love in sending you greetings on your special Birthday. I don’t remember a time that we ever did not enjoy being with you,Harold and our children all together. Our children still know us as Auntie and Uncle and they have all […]

Thank you for loving me, and taking care of me since I was 2kg heavy. I know you shouldn’t be fooled by cheeky smile, my afro hair and my little Bunty walk but you are and that why you give me ice cream as soon as my mummy turns her back on us. Thank you […]

Bunty, so much to thank you for. So much love for you, so much time to give you. Without your love and support and your hard headed comments pulled me through in times when nobody else couldn’t. You taught me to knit in my darkest moments and this I will treasure forever. Your love for […]

Dear Aunty Bunty. A very very Happy Birthday. Wishing you the best of days, full of family, friends, memories and celebrations. Enjoy it all and looking forward to hanging out one day soon. Lots of love, Iara and Danny Morris.

After my darling mum died, I asked Di if I could share Bunty with her for a while as my surrogate mum. Bunty further validated her worthiness of this title by knitting me these two beautiful beanies when I had chemo…..I always felt Bunty’s love and warm and fuzzy wearing them. Dearest Bunty, Walter and […]

Bunty, What a pleasure and privilege it is to have an opportunity to extend happy wishes and be able to share with you some thoughts, without you insisting on paying for the coffee! Many years ago, we met over the chopping of vegetables and serving of food at Sacred Heart Mission and a firm and […]

Aunty Bunty, you are an amazing lady who has always been there for me. I always remember and enjoyed the wonderful holidays the Davis clan shared. I feel a little smile emerge whenever I see Bunty’s face as I have grown accustomed to her radiant expression. Bunty is the like a beautiful swan, classy and skilled at gliding through the debris as well as sharing the bread with the runaway ducks and birds of indeterminable lineage. I feel privileged to occasionally […]

To our dearest Aunty Bunty, So many things come to mind when your name is mentioned. An integral part of my growing up. Even though not blood related, you and Uncle H. couldn’t have been any closer than the real thing. Can’t remember a part of my childhood when you both weren’t there, from picnics, […]

Bunty, 80 years young! Happy Birthday to you! You are the family we choose. You came into our lives when Laila was 3 months old and you have nurtured and cared for us all. Thank you for being the incredible person that you are. You play a very special role in each of our lives and […]

On a magical evening in the early 80’s, I clapped my eyes on the mischievously charming Harold and the divine Bunty for the first time, and fell hopelessly in love with both of them. To this day, I can’t think of Harold, or you Bunty, without having my heart smile. I celebrate you and your […]

Dearest Aunty Bunty!!! This special day of you turning 80 is an excellent chance to remind you how special and loved you are by everyone as you can also see from this beautiful page full of stories and memories. After hearing about Rose & Bunty from Mum for the last 50 years, we finally met up in Melbourne 2 weeks ago! It was a wonderful experience talking about all the places in London and members of the family that we both knew. Martine & Craig told us how hospitable you have been to them […]

I met my cousin Bunty for the first time in 2010 when I was travelling Australia from London. Bunty took Craig and I for breakfast and insisted on paying knowing that we were poor travellers. After returning home we kept in touch and you constantly tried to lure me back, it worked! Since Craig and […]

Dearest Bunty, You are a woman of so many talents and qualities but the 2 that I most aspire to are : Your ability to always be on time, your amazing use of IT. From an always tardy luddite my admiration shows no bounds. However- we are also very much alike in our brilliant sense […]

My parents took their caravan from Sydney to a place called Blue Lagoon (North of Sydney). When they arrived they found two young couples trying to park their caravan, but to no avail. They had no idea what to do. So my father helped them & that started a friendship that has lasted some fifty years, […]

Dearest Bunty, What an honour to be asked to leave you a message for your 80th! You truly are an inspiration and I sure want to be like you when I ‘grow up’!!! You are warm, loving, giving AND great company! Have a wonderful birthday. May it be as special as you are! xxx Love […]

Happy 80th birthday. What a wonderful milestone to celebrate. We wish you a very special day full of joy and happiness. Here are some memories of you celebrating our engagement milestone. Lots of love, Sandra, Steven & family

I have been lucky to meet Bunty through Daniel and Tess. I have titled this Life is Beautiful because to me Bunty epitomises the joy and optimism of life. She is warm and welcoming and gives of herself to others. That is the human spirit right there. We are lucky to know you Bunty and […]

A lovely shot of Aunty Bunty and Jason at his police graduation ceremony. Thank you for being there Aunty Bunty. xx

Bunty, you are truly a person that only adds positive value to the world and people around you. You inspired me to contribute to the Sacred Heart Mission. Those around me can confirm that i have reiterated time & time again that my work at The Mission was my favourite part of my week for a number of […]

After Karen and I had been going out for a while it was decided that I should meet the rest of the family (after her parents of course). It was a Sunday bbq at Bunty and Harold’s house in Stratford Avenue, East Bentleigh. Aunty Bunty’s hospitality and warmth made me feel totally welcome as a […]

When we rang Bunty and Harold from San Francisco to tell them that we were getting married, Bunty said to me ‘we do love him very much, you know’ to which I replied that I could understand why. Then she assured me that if it didn’t work out, they would pay my way back to […]

When I was moving to Melbourne in ‘09, I drove to Sydney from the GC and Nana flew to Sydney and we drove to Melbourne together. Since we both have no sense of direction, once we got to Wollongong, it took us 4 times to leave! Each time we left, we got confused and ended […]

When I was little and we were at Chadstone or Southland with Nana I got my foot caught in the escalators… that was a funny moment with Nana.

I always remember mum saying when i was a “baby”, “Let’s go into the city to get some shoes.” But what she really was doing was taking me to the dentist where there was a train going around and around to shut me up. Also I remember Mum and I always going into the city […]

I remember when I was young I didn’t like the image of the blue boy in their spare room, so Nana would always take it out or turn it around before I went to bed. I also remember Nana once telling me someone stole her car parking spot in Southland, so she went and got […]

When I was younger I used to love going to Nana’s house and cleaning all of her dolls. It was one of my favourite things to do. I was so fascinated by them all.

When I was still in San Francisco, waiting for my clearance to get into Australia, my good friend Holly rang and asked what the names of Stevie’s parents were. She was chief concierge at the Hyatt and there was a Jewish couple from Melbourne at her desk, so she told them that her good friend […]

The pride and love Nana Bunty has for her family has always shone through. So much so that it is like her family is an extension of herself. When Nana comes to stay on the Gold Coast it has always meant plenty of visits to her apartment in Surfers Paradise. It didn’t matter which level […]

I would walk into Nana & Pa’s bathroom and there was Pa waiting patiently on the “closed bathroom seat in his pants for the day” for Nana to arrive with the blow dryer to do his hair. If she was cooking breakfast, which was more than often when her grandchildren were there to visit, i […]

Nana taught me my first word when staying with her as an infant. It was no and used to prevent me making any kind of mess

Way back when Steve and I met, as is known, he wasn’t necessarily the ideal suitor for the eldest daughter! Bunty and Harold were not very happy with what they considered was my choice of men. Tough parents to please!! Eventually when Steve wanted to ask for my hand in marriage, he needed to ask […]

My memories of Mum is she always had the perfect bedroom, everything matching bedspread, curtains, pillows, and after she made the bed perfectly as always Steve, Di and I would go in and jump jump jump on it and mess it up. I think we only stopped doing that not so long ago! THAT WAS FUN!!! […]

School holidays always meant a trip to see Nana and Pa in Melbourne. Taj and I would be dropped off at Gold Coast airport and picked up at the other end, knowing Nana had been sitting there waiting for hours to make sure she was there well before our flight arrived to collect us. Taj […]

When Taj was a toddler and running around without his nappy, Bunty grabbed a kitchen knife and said, “Come here! Let me cut that off!” Of course, Taj wasn’t circumcised and this bothered Bunty to no end! But then recently when he wanted to travel to the Middle East, I argued against it saying that […]

I remember Nana and Pa’s house on Saturn St. It was always so much fun, whenever we used to visit. They had a little red car with pedals that we used to pedal up the road. Marion and Keith lived across the road and it was always fun popping over and seeing our cousins there […]

Pretty sure Nana once drove me to the police station coz I wouldn’t put my seat belt on.

A TV star no less!! We go to a show because I have a friend who gave us tickets and the next thing we know, Bunty has her own web page! “Oh, you are Bunty’s daughter” … “Isn’t that Bunty on the Adam Hills show?” … was much fun to be part of your superstardom. […]

Food glorious food mums specialties Lemon Chicken Strawberry Philly cake – EVERYONE’S FAVOURITE Florentines Hoi Sin chicken Chicken Soup Chicken schnitzel Fried Rice Leg of Lamb Knadelach – always made the best Plum cake Just a snippet with my memories of mums cooking

As we have gotten older I have loved hanging out with Nana Bunty as an adult and getting to know her on a different level. We share a love for drinking strong lattes and eating food at one of the many amazing Melbourne cafés (just don’t let her sit where she can see the kitchen). […]

I remember going to Bunty’s place years ago and never leaving hungry – always a table full of food – every type of bagel and dip you could imagine – and when we went out she always said “Let’s go to Danny and Joes – Mick will love it.” Bunty always asks how my children […]

No one else could have the patience to teach me to knit, except Nana Rose of course. The one thing I craved in America was “Nana food”, baked plums, porcupine meatballs and fried rice! And it was waiting in the fridge when I flew back.

Tess Mae – I may not have known Bunty for very long in the scheme of things, but she has always shown me kindness and generosity. She (as well as all of you lot) have always made me feel incredibly welcome in the Morton/Davis family. I am amazed she is 80 years old! Bunty is […]

I have 2 pickles I have 2 Pickles I have 2 pickles HAY HAY A pickle lover! Nana would always make sure to have pickles from Uncle Simon for me in the fridge.

Nana would always ply me with food. One time I refused her attempt to force feed me a fifth helping and she accused me of “never eating anything at [her] house”

Sheila Davis – Every time Bunty was due for a visit, I would spend weeks scrubbing and cleaning – I always referred to her as the ‘white glove queen’. I knew that if she saw any dirt at all, she would want to help me clean – which would mean neither of us would get […]

#1 I don’t think any of us can really imagine what it was like for Bunty to be parted from her parents during WW2. Being sent away to live with people you don’t know for an indeterminate length of time must have been terrifying for a young child. It is testimony to Bunty’s strength of […]

There is so much about the last 60 years of my life for which I am thankful it is hard to know where to start. I am sure all the other wonderful messages are going to cover just about everything, as you make a wonderful impact on everyone who meets you. The constant theme of […]
